Wapping Seniors: Up Your Street Events

We’ve covered Kids in Wapping and now it’s the turn of Seniors:

Up Your Street

Gillian is a 2012 East London Greeter, has joined the Heritage Project and is now in the process of setting up an “Up Your Street” for the Seniors of Wapping.

Up Your StreetHi, I’m Gillian and I run Up Your Street.

It’s a free “What’s On” list just for Seniors, those aged 55 and above. I publish a list of free or very cheap accessible activities and events that are going on in and around Wapping.

I enjoy putting together Up Your Street and love getting out there to meet people with similar interests and I share all my information so that we have a chance to try new stuff. I research the events and also access details at venues. There are thousands of physically able and fit seniors, so I’ll include things like whether on a six mile hike there is a refreshment stop!

Make good use of your Oyster and Freedom Pass

Enjoy tea-dances, outings, workshops, courses and much more …

It is a well-known fact that going out increases one’s well-being, physically and mentally. Up Your Street lists all types of things which seniors have told me appeal to them.

Most seniors I know like tea dances, musical shows and places of interest. People like to learn new skills be it dance -steps or felting, digital camera or film- production.

How Can I Sign Up for the List?

Email gillianamuir@aol.co.uk and I’ll add you to the list distribution.
