After a quiet summer in Wapping, September is an exciting month full of things to do and see.

With everything from the annual Open House London and Mayor’s Thames Festival to tea, tango and pirates in King Edward Memorial park there’s definitely something for all tastes.

The oral history project ‘A Sense of Place’ also completes in September after months of gathering river history – celebrating with a week of events at Hermitage Moorings.

Until 9th Sept: News International exhibition Wapping – 25 years on

From 10am-6pm at St George-in-the-East Church a historic exhibition of the News International dispute. Includes dramatic images and accounts and a public meeting on 5th Sept at 7pm [...view details].

Sun 4th: Art auction for Burundi

From 2pm at Hermitage Moorings with the auction starting at 3pm. The afternoon will raise funds for the Batwa Project which includes sending a small team from Brockley to Burundi in October [...view details].

Fri 9th – Sun 18th: A Sense of Place oral history celebration

Celebrating the grand finale of ‘A Sense of Place’ oral history project is an entire week of special events – including a music evening on Fri 16th at 7pm with Wapping ballads so bring your voice or instruments! [...view details].

Celebrate the River Thames at London’s largest free festival from 12pm to 10pm on 10th and 11th September. Events are all along the river and include 14 in zone 4 at nearby St Katharine Docks [...view details].

A unique opportunity to get out and under the skin of London’s amazing architecture. Over 700 buildings open their doors for free including the Thames Police Museum and Hermitage Moorings in Wapping [...view details].

Fri 22rd – Sun 24th: International London Tattoo Convention

Not everyone’s cup of tea but the convention brings Tobacco Dock to life for three days at an annual event bringing people to Wapping from all over the world [...view details].

Captain Kidd at the Museum of London Docklands

On until 30th Oct the exhibition with over 170 original exhibits tells the story of Wapping’s most famous pirate and asks ‘But was he guilty?’ [...view details].

Headlong presents Decade: 9/11

Wapping Project Bookshop
