Tower Hamlets ‘Save our Surgeries’ march starts in St Katharine Docks, Wapping on 5th June

A protest march will take place on Thursday 5th June starting at 2.15pm from the St Katharine Docks GP Practice, 12-14 Nightingale House, 50 Thomas More Street which will march via the other Tower Hamlets GP Surgeries that are threatened with closure.

The march will end at Kingsley Hall in Bromley by Bow at around 6.20pm with a rally where Lord David Owen and others will speak against the closures.

The St Katharine Docks Medical Practice on the border of St Katharines and Wapping in Thomas More Street is run by Dr Sarit Patel and is one of 98 in England under threat of closure because of NHS funding cuts.

MP Jim Fitzpatrick has called on the Government in a Parliamentary debate to think again on planned changes to NHS funding which has directly threatened five GP surgeries in Tower Hamlets with closure.

The Friends of St Katharine Docks have set up an online petition on the Government website to support Dr Sarit Patel and the St Katharine Docks Medical Practice which you can find and sign here: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/64721

Any queries should be made to Alex Speight, Practice Manager at the St Katharine Docks GP Practice.
