Shops & Services: What’s in Wapping?

Kindly contributed by Robin, this is a residents walking guide to the shops and services in Wapping to answer:

What’s in Wapping?

… a question asked by many!

We start our walk around Wapping at Barclays Cycle Hire in Wapping High Street.

Barclays Cycle Hire Wapping

This is what we have in Wapping at the moment – a healthy mix of grocery / convenience stores, off-licenses and other services.

This list was compiled by walking around the area, speaking with the shop owners and staff, and jotting down what I hope is helpful information.

I’ve omitted pubs, restaurants and other places to eat, which are being represented in the Food & Drink section of the site as residents submit their reviews.

Waitrose has its own page already after debates about opening hours which they’ve recently responded to [...read more]

Thanks for the kind comments! I also noticed that Kenkou had a good writeup on the Facebook page for this site. So maybe if one of their regular clients suggests to them that they be added to the list here, they will be happier about participating. Whoever is in charge of the salon can also have a look at this page and see that it is genuine.

  • Ross

What a wonderful write-up Robin. I wish this had been available when I moved to Wapping – most of these shops are on the east side of Wapping so if you live nearer Waitrose they are so easily missed!

  • http://www.WhatsinWapping.co.uk What’s in Wapping

We’ll do a complete page update in a couple of weeks with all the additions, so grateful if you can pass word around Wapping to anyone who may be missing and also good to double check the contact details and hours.

And many thanks Robin for doing this!

  • Robin

@Irene – thanks: of all the shops I talked to, Kenkou was the only one who wouldn’t participate. I think the person there when I visited wasn’t senior enough to say OK, although I explained it was just for a community service listing, no cost to them. I left both my phone numbers but they didn’t phone to approve by the time I had promised to give Vickie the list. Is there another dry cleaners in the New Crane courtyard, in addition to the Laundry Box? I will have a look today.

  • Irene

There is also Kenkou spa & hairdressers and another drycleaners at New Crane Wharf.

  • Laura

That’s really helpful, thanks for doing this!
