Please note that “it is not allowed to discuss the details of the specific attacks for which a man has been charged as that would prejudice court proceedings; however, there will be an opportunity for the community to question the police and council on general safety issues that this case has brought to the attention of the public.”

    Hi Fifa
Wapping is still a low crime area. This is the latest update from the most recent Safer Neighbourhoods Team meeting by Love Wapping who attended it:
    http://lovewapping.org/2013/02/wapping-crime-drought-continues/

Depending where on the Highway, it’s possible the area you’re looking at comes under Limehouse or Shadwell as that’s where the boundaries change (depends which statistics, so worth reading any small print that goes with them).
    Hope that helps.

Hi, I’m a prospective Wapping resident and I wanted to ask whether anyone has any comments about the safety of the area, The Highway in particular? I’m thinking of buying a flat on The Highway (around KEMP) but came across these stabbings which have added to my concerns about safety implications of moving to this part of London. As a first time buyer I’m very worried about making the wrong move in purchasing in this specific location even though I really like its central location. Does anyone have thoughts to share on the topic, i.e. any positive/negative experiences around that part of The Highway, things for someone unfamiliar with the area should consider/watch out for if buying?
Thanks in advance; I appreciate this is a community website and not necessarily a forum to ask opinions, so I apologise in advance for any misuse resulting from my post.

Having just jogged through Wapping Wood I noticed that one of the lamps in a key light in the central walkway has failed making it darker than it need be – given the recent attacks, we need reassurances that authorities are taking safety very seriously – not just maintaining present lighting but improving it as well as other measures. This is presently not the case. Stay safe everyone and let’s reclaim Wapping Wood for everyone!
